About

Hi! I’m Toby Brazier, the new brass teacher for Calderdale Music. I am a trumpeter first and foremost and regularly play in jazz groups and big bands in Yorkshire. I also play cornet for Hammonds Brass Band who compete at the highest levels in the banding world. I teach all brass from trumpet to tuba and have a wealth of experience teaching all ages and abilities in both one to one and class settings.

I studied jazz at both Leeds Conservatoire and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London where I gained my bachelor’s and master’s degrees respectively. After my studies I joined the army where I was a member of the Royal Artillery Band, Woolwich. I performed regularly for royal and state occasions including the ever popular changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle. The band went on international tours too which were a real highlight travelling to Sweden, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Russia and Morocco.

I am looking forward to teaching the students of Calderdale and helping build the next generation of brass players for the county.
