Woodwind instruments come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but they tend to fall into two families flutes and reed instruments. Flutes generate a sound when air is blown through a hole in the instrument at a certain angle, while reed instruments generate a sound when air is blown onto a reed, causing it to vibrate. Woodwind instruments can be found in orchestral, funk, jazz, pop and folk styles, and many more.
