Work Experience With Calderdale Music

Do you dream of a career in music teaching one day? Or perhaps you’ve thought about it and aren’t too sure just yet?

We are looking for young people in school in Y9 or above who would be interested in supporting our young musicians in ensemble rehearsals at The Old Courthouse in Halifax Town Centre. Our groups for ages 7 – 11 years are a perfect opportunity for you to help students with reading notation and improving their skills on their instrument, whilst learning more about teaching mus

We require you to volunteer every week for a minimum of half a term, this is to ensure consistency for our children and young people and help us set a good example of regular attendance at rehearsals.

Opportunities are available in the following groups:

Woodwind instruments: Saturdays 11:00am – 12:30pm (Debut Winds and Saturday Winds.)

Brass instruments: Saturdays 11:00am – 12:30pm (Debut Winds and Saturday Winds)

String instruments: Saturdays 11:45am – 1:00pm (Beginner Strings and Debut Strings)

Piano: Saturdays 10:15am – 11:00am (Debut Keys)

The groups may perform in a concert during your time with them so there may be opportunity to support with this as well.

Work Experience Students will need to be grade 3 standard or higher on their instrument. Students will be presented with a certificate at the end of their work experience to log the number of hours they have supported young musicians.
