Colleen was born in the North East of England and developed a love of music from a very young age. She learnt to play the piano and cello at Primary school before taking singing lessons at Secondary school. In her late teens Colleen became a member of The National Youth Choir of Great Britain, singing and performing in many of the countries prestigious venues. Her time with the choir culminated with a trip of the South Pacific. Colleen studied Music at The University of Huddersfield majoring in singing and piano. After her degree Colleen continued her studies with a P.G.C.E in music.
Colleen taught in a primary school in Middlesbrough for two years before deciding to undertake an Advanced Diploma in singing at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
During 2002 after completing her studies Colleen moved to Leeds and taught in a number of Primary Schools as their Music Co-ordinator. She then worked for Artforms, for a year in Leeds teaching Curriculum Music before moving to The Greetland Academy in 2007 as a class teacher with responsibility for Music. Here she was instrumental in developing the choir and leading the singing throughout the school. On the piano Colleen accompanied the many shows such as The Sound of Music, Oliver and Bugsy Malone.
In 2013 Colleen started working for Calderdale Music Trust (formerly Calderdale Music Service) where she teaches piano, keyboard, cello and voice lessons. Colleen also enjoys teaching curriculum music and sharing her love of music with others.
In Colleen’s spare time she enjoys going to the cinema, catching up with friends and family and singing in Huddersfield Choral Society.
