About

Meiko took an early interest in music learning to play piano and violin. After having won many prizes at young people’s competitions in Japan, she embarked on several music studies abroad, while still performing frequently.

She completed her Postgraduate Certificate at Trinity College of Music in London and since that time, has given recitals at major concert halls and music societies. Meiko at the present time is a regular soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player locally but also on the wider music scene.

Meiko is an accomplished pianist and enjoys teaching piano and violin to all ages of pupils. She believes that piano playing comes from the heart regardless of genre such as classical, folk, jazz etc. It is her upmost joy to witness young people play with fresh and lively enthusiasm while also understanding the playing of mature adults with rich life experiences.

Meiko joined Calderdale in 2022 and is eager to positively change the dynamics of Music culture by encouraging and inspiring creativity.

Meiko is a qualified teacher with a PGCE in Music from Durham University. Her teaching aims are to bring all her pupils closer to music, but also to make music closer and more involving for them, ensuring a more creative and wholesome life.
